How we work
Five steps, from searching for your name in Google to taking the site down. At every step, you see what we found and what we did.
Five steps
We search
We search for your name in Google in all your countries, on desktop and on mobile. We look at the first 100 results, not 10.
We check
On each site, we click the buttons like a customer and see where the customer lands. We find out who owns the site.
We get your approval
We send you a list. We file complaints only against what you mark “not ours”. We don't touch your own sites or your affiliates.
We take it down
We file complaints with Google and Bing, the hosting provider and the registrar within 24 hours. All channels and timelines →
We check the result
We check that the site is gone and watch to make sure it does not come back. Once a month, you get a report on every complaint. How we report →
The key step is the second one. Only one thing separates an affiliate from a parasite: where the customer lands after the click. Below is how we check it.
What we check before every complaint
Search in all your countries
On desktop and on mobile, we look at the first 100 results, not 10. In 57% of cases, a third-party site using a brand's name is below position 20.
We click like a customer
We visit from a phone and from an IP address in the site's country. We click the buttons and follow the whole path to the site where your customer lands.
Site owner
We check who the site's certificate is issued to and when the domain was bought. We also look for other sites with the same owner.
Your “not ours”
We file a complaint only after you confirm. We don't touch your own sites or the affiliates on your list.
What a check of one site looks like
- “brand app”
- Austria
- mobile
- 2026-10-06
- position 2
- brand-app.atbutton “Anmelden”
- link-xx.com
- partner-xx.com/?bta=35162
- rival-brand.comresult: the customer goes to a competitor
A customer searches for your app and clicks “Log in” on a site with your name. The click goes through two third-party links, and the customer lands on a competitor's site. This line goes into the complaint and into your report. Anyone can check the country, the search query and the date.
How we label sites in the report
Yours
The button leads to your site. This is your affiliate or your mirror (a backup site). We don't touch it.
Competitor
The button sends the customer to a competitor. We use this label only if we followed the path ourselves.
Looks like a clone
The site pretends to be you. Before we file a complaint, we open it manually and confirm it.
Unrelated site
A news article, a directory, a forum. No button leads to you or to anyone else. We don't touch it.
Not determined
We looked, but there was not enough data. We don't accuse the site, and we don't call it “clean”.
Not checked
The site did not open, blocked us with a security check, or we could not check that country. We say exactly that. It is not the result of a check.
What a site shows Google and what it shows your customer
Google sees
a page with your name
Your customer sees
“Page not found”
If Google sees more than a person does, that is deception. We save the page that Google got and put it in the complaint. We don't touch a site that simply blocks bots.
When we say a site is not yours
Only what we saw
We call a site a competitor only if we clicked the button ourselves and landed on a competitor. Your name and a similar design are not proof. Your affiliates look like that too.
We check your button
On a page with ten brands, we don't accuse the site because of other brands' buttons. What matters is where the button with your name leads.
A shared server is not a connection
Thousands of unrelated sites run on one server. So sharing an IP address with your site proves nothing. The certificate and your list decide whose site it is.
We click several times
The same button leads to different sites at different times. In the example above, another button on the same site led to two different third-party sites in two visits. So we record every destination with its date.
